May 12, 2016
15 minute tours of the California Museum of Photography and the Barbara and Art Culver Center of the Arts | Thursday, May 12, 2016, 6pm - 9pm |
Doors Open Riverside is an event that provides an opportunity for ‘Doors to Open’ to a number of historic buildings in downtown Riverside including several private buildings that are not normally open to the public.
This is the first Doors Open Riverside and is modeled after Doors Open events that take place in cities across North America, Europe, Australia and elsewhere. The City of Riverside, the Mission Inn Museum and Foundation, the Old Riverside Foundation, the Riverside Arts Council, and the Riverside Downtown Partnership are partnering in presenting the event.
Interior tours will be 15 minutes in length and start at 6 pm and then every 20 minutes with the last one at 8:40 pm. Attendees can start at any location. All locations will be identified with signage on A Frames and where applicable, will have signage indicating ADA access.
Each tour will have a docent guide and volunteers, and will be limited to 15 people. The docent guide will explain the history of the building and its architectural features. For specific private buildings, a liability waiver must be signed and left with a volunteer stationed in the building before proceeding on the tour.
Docent guides are volunteers from the Mission Inn Museum and will be identified by their name badges and Doors Open Riverside Volunteer Tags on lanyards. Volunteers will be identified by their Doors Open black T-Shirts. The main information booth for the event will be located on the plaza in front of the Main Library on Mission Inn Avenue staffed by volunteers from the Old Riverside Foundation. Maps for the event will be available at the information booth and at each location.
