Writer's Week Keynote

Jayne Anne Phillips is the author of Lark and Termite, and three previous novels, MotherKind, Shelter, and Machine Dreams. Her two collections of widely anthologized stories include Fast Lanes and Black Tickets. She is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships, a Bunting Fellowship, and has taught at Harvard, Williams, Boston University; she is currently professor of English and director of the MFA program at Rutgers-Newark, the State University of New Jersey. Her work has won numerous awards and been praised by A.M. Homes, Raymond Carver, Nadime Gordimer, among many others, and has been translated into 12 languages.

She will be introduced by UCR's own Susan Straight.
