The Barbara and Art Culver Center of the Arts and the California Museum of Photography offer unique spaces for meetings, conferences, performances, film screenings, receptions, and special events. Located in downtown Riverside, our historic sites provide state of the art sound and screening equipment as well as artistic settings that inspire creativity.

Coil Brothers Atrium

The Coil Brothers Atrium is a magnificent space with a beautiful 35 foot high naturally illuminated clerestory monitor in the center. It is ideal for conferences, lectures, meetings, awards ceremonies, social gatherings, and performances.
Dimensions: The area between the columns is approximately 22 x 75 feet or 1650 square feet.
Capacity: Standing 300, seated with 60" round tables 100.

Culver Screening Room

The Culver Screening Room is an ideal place for film screenings, lectures, readings, and business presentations. It can project in all digital formats in Dolby Surround Sound. Generally the screening room is not available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays due to regularly scheduled programming. Food and beverages are not permitted in the Theater but can be accommodated immediately outside the screening room.
Capacity: 72 plus 4 additional handicap accessible spaces.

Olga Hammond Dance Studio

The Olga Hammond Dance Studio offers an intimate space with beautiful hard wood floors and natural lighting. It is ideal for small performances and receptions, or as a breakout room for conferences.
Dimensions: 30 x 45 feet.
Capacity: Standing 50, Seated with tables 30.

Black Box Theatre/Intermedia Studio

The Black Box Theatre/Intermedia Studio is a large, acoustically isolated studio on the second floor of the Culver Center. It has black, white, and green curtains that can wrap three walls (green screen effects are possible), theatrical lighting, and a carpeted floor. It is ideal for recording video, but also can be used to showcase small-scale theatrical productions of an experimental or minimal scale.
Dimensions: 30 x 39 feet.

Culver 2nd Floor Lobby and Computer Room

Our 2nd Floor Lobby, located just outside the Hammond Dance Studio and the Black Box Theatre, is a classic space overlooking the atrium. It is flexible for small installations, meetings, and performances. Scheduling is dependent on other activities due to its open air nature that allows sound to carry.
Dimensions: 20 X 45 feet
Capacity: Standing 75, seated with tables 25
The Computer Room is available from September to June. This space is carpeted and has a large window overlooking the atrium. There is large open center area and four private rooms. This room can be used as a meeting room, a breakout space for conferences, a training room, or a green room for performances.
Dimensions: 15 X 45 feet
Capacity: Standing 40, seated with tables 25

California Museum of Photography

Exhibition programs for the California Museum of Photography are curated and planned up to two years in advance. However, an event proposal for an exhibition space may be considered on occasion if it fits within the overall curatorial vision.

Capacity: Varies depending on exhibition.
